Sites in Haridwar :
Har-Ki-Pauri
: The Gangadwar Temple is situated near the ghat and
is the most important temple of Haridwar. The golden reflection
of floral diyas in the river Ganges is a remarkable sight
in the evenings. Thousands throng to the Har-Ki-Pauri
to participate in the aarti ceremony. Chandi Devi :
Situated at the Neel Parvat on the other bank of river
Ganges. The temple is a 3-km trek from Chandi Ghat and
it is believed that Adi Shankaracharya established the
main statue here in eighth century AD. The temples of
Neeleshwar Mahadev and Anjani Devi are also adjacent to
the Chandi Devi Temple. The Mansa Devi temple atop
the Bilwa Parvat is dedicated to Goddess Mansa Devi, one
of the various incarnations of Goddess Durga. The Gurukul
Kangri University is a centre of learning where education
is imparted in the traditional Indian way. It is situated
3 km from the Haridwar railway station on Haridwar-Jawalpur
Road.
